A Zumba® class is all about having fun, feel good, sing, sweat, so let yourself go, no one is looking. As long as you are dancing and smiling, as long as you follow the safety tips previously mentioned, you are already doing Zumba®.
If you really want to burn up to 1000 calories in a Zumba® class you need to bounce more, change levels, go up and down, engage your muscles. When it is a squats exercise really go as low as you can and not forgetting the alignment even if you have troublesome knees you can adjust this exercise.
Even if you are the only one in the room doing this, do it any way! The more you maximise your range of movement, the more energy and effort you put into it, the more calories you will burn. Burn calories does not mean only weight loss, although it is fundamental to lose weight, but it also helps to tone and sculpt.
Use and abuse your glutes, they are our best friends not only in Belly Dance but also or maybe even specially in a Zumba® class! The more you shake your booty, the more you sweat! Contract your glutes whenever you come up from a crouching or squatting position or when performing hip lifts. Let them loose when twerking.
When it's a move or a routine that you already know, just rock your moves and push even harder. Remember at all times that it is not about being perfect but it is all about effort if you want to have results. Even if you do not want to lose weight and you already have a toned body, you can always improve your dance moves and your cardiovascular resistance. These tips are for everyone!

Low: you could sing while doing your Zumba® fitness workout
Med: you could talk while doing your Zumba® fitness workout
High: you are out of breathe and could NOT talk while doing your Zumba® fitness
